Queensland’s Government has announced today that it will put in place a Container Deposit Scheme to reduce pollution caused by drink cans and bottles.
The recycling initiative will begin in 2018 and has been met with “considerable industry and community support”, according to the Minister for the Environment.

The first is that New South Wales, Australia is set to roll out a deposit return system from July 2017.

The Marine Conservation Society (MCS) strongly supports the introduction of a deposit return system (DRS) in Scotland. Litter surveys show that drinks containers can make up to 14% of litter on Scottish beaches and over 20% on land.
