“Littering is one of the biggest expenses that we, as a charity, have to spend our money on. Money that should go into caring for the woods themselves is actually being spent on cleaning up glass, plastic and other waste from our woods. Anything we can do to get that waste out of our woods and back into our recycling system is something that Woodland Trust supports. We need a new and innovative system if we’re going to change the rates of recycling. I’ve seen the success of deposit return systems elsewhere, and anyone you talk to about the deposit return scheme sees the sense in it. The sooner we can get this, the better! We need to move on this as quickly as possible!”
